Azumanga Daioh is a manga made by Kiyohiko Azuma. An anime version was made in 2002. Azumanga Daioh anime and manga follows the daily lives of six highscool girls and two teachers. In this series we can see Sasaki´s obsession with the cats of the city that seem to hate her, the prodigious 10 year old Chiyo´s struggle to be accepted as an ordinary highschool student, the patient Yomi and her impulsive and hyperactive best friend Tomo, the crazy ideas of Osaka and extreme competitiveness of the sporty Kagura. Although this series is mostly based on the daily lives of these girls, it also has absurd situations mixed with slight touches of surrealism.
