Eden of the East is an anime series first released on Japanese television network FUJI TV. Created, directed and written by Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell). The characters design was made by Chika Umino (Honey and Clover) and was produced by Production I.G.Plot
In the year 2010 several missiles impacted uninhabited areas in Japan. These attacks only caused structural damages, there were no human lives losses. This terrorist attack was known as Careless Monday. These attacks caused panic reactions on civilians and authorities. Eden of the East's story really gets started in the aftermath of these attacks. Saki Morimi, a Japanese student travels to America to celebrate his college graduation. A series of unexpected events end up involving Saki with a young man who has lost his memory. Apparently, his name is Takizawa Akira. He knows so because his passport has that name written on it. Then, Takizawa Akira decides to embark on a journey in order to retrieve his memory and to find out the enigma behind his role as a member of a group of inviduals who were selected by an entity known as Mr. Outside. These individuales were selected to carry out a plan intended to "save" Japan.

This mysterious group ,in which Takizawa is a member, is known as Seleção. Every member has a cellphone that has a huge amount of digital cash on it.This digital cash must be used in the most convenient manner in order to attain their goal, saving Japan. The 12 member of Seleção can buy and ask for whatever they want. They also have an assistant who is known as Juiz. She makes sure that the Selecao member's orders are fulfilled.
The Seleção members are solely regulated by an individual known as The Supporter. The Supporter is one of the 12 Selecao members, but only Mr. Outside knows who he or she is. The Supporter is in charge of overseeing the actions of the other members and even eliminating them when don't obey the Selecao rules or their digital cash finishes. This can be inferred by the phrase Juiz says after a require is asked, noblesse oblige. Thus, Those who have been selected as Selecao, carry a great responsibility, saving Japan before a catasthropic event occurs again.
